University District Yoga would like to offer folks the option of taking two weekly classes. There are many positive reasons why this is recommended. For one it is a good way to gain efficiency in the art of Yoga. For beginners the goal is to learn the basic shape and actions of the first 74 poses and 5 pranayama's presented on the introductory syllabus. For intermediate level students the goal is to deepen their understanding of the poses on the Introductory syllabus as well as begin practicing intermediate level poses. With two weekly classes repetition of poses occurs which integrates the body mechanics within the pose. The more you do the pose the more you feel it for yourself and this creates strength and flexibility. Weekly continual practice teaches the shape and action of the pose quickly, so you move into the health benefits. Progression occurs with two weekly classes. As your body becomes more accustomed to the pose a home practice begins. Another benefit of two weekly classes. Once you understand the shape of a pose you can take this knowledge home and practice it for yourself using some of the actions you learned from class. The more days a week you practice the more you progress. If you are unsure if two classes a week is for you try it out and watch for its effects. Sign-up for a weekly classes
