About Tara
Tara earned her degree in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College. Before turning to yoga, she spent 20 years choreographing dances in New York and Seattle. She has been teaching Yoga for over 25 years and is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher(CIYT) as well as a certified Yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT). She has traveled to northern and southern India to study yoga and attended the Iyengar institute in Pune. She continues her yoga training with advanced level teachers, Felicity Green, Cathy Rodger-Evans and Lois Steinberg.
Tara’s teaching style is knowledgeable, patient, firm, challenging and kind. She teaches all ages and abilities especially those suffering from overall stiffness and those wanting more flexibility. She enjoys teaching small semi-private classes, because of the individual challenges and solutions that arise during the class. Encouraging students to connect the mind to the body is one of her teaching goals, as well as sharing the art, science and philosophy of yoga. She also enjoys the energy that comes from teaching larger classes and group workshop settings. Tara enjoys the art of creative sequencing to fit the needs of the students in front of her. She began teaching yoga at the University Family YMCA and the Creative Dance Center. Tara shares her passion for Iyengar yoga at other Seattle yoga studios.
